At Local Student Storage, we don’t just move boxes; we understand the St Andrews “hustle.” We are a student-led company dedicated to providing an affordable, personable, and stress-free storage solution for those who can’t—or simply don’t want to—haul their entire life back home for the summer.​

Our Story: From DRA Scott Flat 3 to St Andrews’ Favourite

The idea for Local Student Storage wasn’t born in a corporate boardroom; it was born in a dorm room. In 2015, St Andrews student Harry Bremner was living in DRA (Scott, Flat 3) when he noticed a glaring problem with the traditional move-out process.

While students were frantically trying to finish finals, they were also struggling to navigate the logistics of summer. Harry realised there was no service offering a “closed-loop” solution. Students were forced to trek back and forth to distant storage facilities, often requiring a car they didn’t have or a taxi they couldn’t afford.

He saw that students didn’t need to rent an entire, expensive storage unit. They just needed a safe place for a few boxes, some suitcases, and—this being St Andrews—the occasional set of golf clubs.

A Decade of Growth

In our first year (2015), only 17 students trusted us with their gear. Today, things look a little different. We have grown to become the most popular student storage service at the University of St Andrews, with 1 in 10 students using our service every single year.

While our roots remain firmly planted in the “Bubble,” our reputation for reliability has spread, and we now proudly cater to students in Edinburgh as well.
